Inspired by Kaijo Toshi 1958 (Marine City) by Kiyonori Kikutake, AUREOLE is a 256 unit residential complex that utilizes a plug-in tube design that is connected to the core.

By making the diameter of the tube 3 meters instead of the original 2 floors, dwellers can make good use of the space while not feeling claustrophobic.

Each unit has two plugs, living area, kitchen, and bath. Every unit is approximately 63.89 square meters, and there are 8 units per floor.

 

Conventional housing often measure quality by floor area, yet much of that space remains unused throughout the day. Most daily life occurs within a few recurring zones: the desk, the bed, a bookshelf, and the window. The remaining space is largely transitional. Rather than asking how much private space could be provided, I asked how much was the bare minimum to live comfortably.
